However you define your family, Hannah will take a beautiful photo capturing the love within it. Whether you'd like to capture photos of yourself and your child, grandparents and grandchildren, brothers and sisters playing at the family home, or an extended family shoot with cousins and aunts, Hannah will be able to capture some beautiful photos of you all together. Winchester is the perfect location for family photography. Known for its historical locations and green places there are many destinations to have your photos taken, whether that's at home or out on location.
Family Photography in Your Own Home
Having your photograph taken can be daunting, especially for the kids, so being in their home environment can make the experience more enjoyable and comfortable for everyone. This will in turn be reflected in the photos. Being at home is the best way to capture children being themselves and also takes out the stress of travelling before the photo shoot.
Family Photography on Location
Family portraits can be taken at your favourite outside locations. Examples of these could be the beach, a forest or meadow. It's always a good idea to aim for golden hour so shooting early morning or late afternoon (depending on the time of year) will give the most atmospheric light.
The best shoots are always the ones with lots of beautiful light, neutral colours and a relaxed mood.
Family Photography Pricing
A 1 ½ hour photo shoot is £250. The price also includes the editing and delivery of up to 50 photos, high resolution and web size. If required Hannah will retouch a small selection of shots so they are ready for printing. There is an extra fee for shoots outside of Hampshire or if you require more than 5 shots retouching.
How does it work?
Contact Hannah, and she will book the date for the photo shoot that suits you both. You can expect your shots back within a couple of days to a week after the session. Hannah will select and edit the best photos and send you all of these.
Tips for Getting Your Family Photos Taken
I’m worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera..
Pretend Hannah’s not there, be yourself and interact with your family as normal! Hannah is excellent at putting families at ease and creating natural, intimate shots.
I’m worried about keeping young children still, they never stop running around!
Let the children play and carry on like normal, Hannah will work around them.
What should we wear?
Neutral colours always work best with Hannah’s style of photography, but it is most important that you feel comfortable.

Where in Winchester is good for family photography?
Winchester and its surroundings offer many scenic outdoor spots where you can immerse yourself in nature. Here are some delightful places to explore:
St Gile’s Hill: Close to the centre of Winchester this location offers stunning views across Winchester, beautiful trees and greenery and little secluded spots of dappled light.
Dean Garnier Garden: A hidden gem within the Inner Close, this beautifully planted walled garden stands on the site of the monks' dormitory from the medieval Priory of St Swithun.
Winnal Moors Nature Reserve: This is an idyllic little spot for a family photo shoot in central Winchester. Here the River Itchen runs through this peaceful nature reserve, winding its way through picturesque reeds and wild flowers (come springtime!) with a stretch of boardwalk and paths making it easy to walk around with kids.
St Catherine's Hill: Climb the wooden stairs to the summit of St Catherine's Hill (220 feet) for breathtaking views of Winchester, the Itchen Valley floodplains, and the surrounding downland. An early morning photo shoot will catch some beautiful light here.
Barton Meadows Nature Reserve: A flourishing wildflower oasis in the heart of Winchester, providing a backdrop of meadows, rolling landscapes and rough grassland.
